In English Literature 11, you will engage in careful reading and analysis of a variety of imaginative literature. Through the close reading of selected texts, you will deepen your understanding of the ways writers use language to provide both meaning and pleasure for their readers. As you read, you will consider a work’s structure, style, and theme, as well as elements of figurative language, imagery, symbolism, and tone.
Social Studies 11 explores the key social, cultural, political, legal, and geographical - environmental issues that have affected Canada in the twentieth century. It will also examine the same events, ideas, values, and problems as they continue to shape both Canada and the rest of the world in the new millennium.
Socials Studies 9 is a comprehensive study of the major events of Europe and North America from 1500 to 1815. This course will explore and dive into the many changes that were happening during that time - from the rise of powerful kings to the fall of great nations. We will also look at topics including revolutions, imperialism, colonialism, nationalism, and conflicts.

The ELL 4 Advanced Communications and Connections course incorporates the base level 10 Core English and is meant to further strengthen reading, writing and argumentation skills.  Students in this course will focus on reading a variety of short stories, articles and poetry. Students will also exercise organization, presentation and research skills in both individual and group settings.  Grammar, vocabulary, writing mechanics and literary elements will also be covered throughout the year.
